Welcome to Day 19! How Does SEO Work?
We have talked a lot about SEO already during this challenge. But, we have yet to really answer the question of “How does SEO work?” You have trusted us with implementing what we have asked, but today’s purpose is to give you an understanding of why we are doing what we are doing.
What Is SEO?
What is the magical and mystical SEO? Check out Dictionary.com’s definition of SEO below to start…search engine optimization;
- the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.
Everything that we have been doing during this challenge is designed to optimize your website for search engines and convert that traffic into leads for your business. Most website companies can build out a pretty website, but they are not experts in getting results..Carrot is the #1 expert in the real estate field for ranking websites high in Google. The 3 most important factors for SEO are…
- Tech Stack (page set up correctly, page speed, page structure, optimized for mobile)
- Content (Is this page relevant for the search phrase?)
- Backlinks (we will dive into this later in the week!)
We take care of the entire tech stack for you. This is what we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on per year to ensure our members have the best tech stack in the business. You don’t have to worry about any of this. The content is where our top members start to differentiate themselves. We have worked a lot of content during this challenge and will continue to do, because it is so important. Backlinks are the final piece of the puzzle, and are a little harder to control. This is one of the reasons why big national websites tend to rank high, because a lot of other websites link back to them. We will discuss backlinks later in the week. Today, your task is to watch the SEO Basics training below. We are included A TON of other training if you want to dive into it today or over the coming weeks.

The 5 articles below will give you a very good understanding of the why, whats, and hows of SEO for your business. Read through them and take note of any questions you have to ask in the Facebook group! Don’t worry you don’t have to memorize everything! The goal of today is to give you a basic understanding of how SEO works, not to overwhelm you with 10,000 to dos. And, if you are having trouble understanding anything, ask for clarification with our great support team or in the Facebook group.
